I've shot magnolia blossoms over the years and I attempt to work on the textures in the bright white tones. But on a walk last weekend, I came across this blossom in its final stages of maturity. The tones are foreboding and yet there is a distinct beauty about this stage in the circle of life.

Oakland Acorn
Hiking around Serentine Prairie after last Thanksgiving, I found this new acorn on display, looking as though it was climbing toward the sun. The lighting was changing from overcast to sunny so the light was diffuse but there were still shadows - perfect for photography.
