Wrapping-up my Year 2009 recap, is an art project called "Remember Them: Champions for Humanity", which is based in Oakland and is slated to begin installation in the first quarter of 2010 in a park next to the renovated Fox Theater. It is a massive undertaking with bronze figures several stories tall. My family supports the project which will inspire future generations to selfless contributions to society.

Snow
December in Oakland starts out with an unusual cold snap which brings snow to hills. This is a treat for young and old alike since there is plenty of snow to play in, but not enough to have to shovel.
Canyon View
Another part of the Southern Desert near Palm Springs offers spectacular desert vistas. This view is from the Pacific Crest Trail as it traverses Whitewater Canyon.
Fall Pathway
Every year Sylvia and I spend a week in Palm Desert because we are drawn to the desert and surrounding mountains. Lake Fulmor is a staple for us because it offers a glimpse of Fall colors.

Power Plant
California is fraught with conflicting interests as shown here. The Moss Landing power plant is neighbor to Elkhorn Slough, a wildlife preserve.
Old Tree
Pt. Lobos State Reserve offers the ocean, wildlife and flora in nearly pristine condition. It is a place where beauty is all around. A day there can easily melt away stress and daily cares.
Parade
Alameda stages a 4th of July parade in which nearly everyone in town either partakes or watches. Groups of all varieties and ages come together to celebrate the melting pot we have become.
Birthday Duo
Sylvia shares her birthday with her father. Whenever possible they get together and share a cake; this time in Florida. He is 93 and she is younger.
Spring Color
In May, I travelled to Montclair, NJ, to visit my daughter's family. Spring in the east is so different from the Calfornia season. Streets and gardens are lush and green and flowers are intensely vibrant as this view of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden shows.
Golden Gate Bridge
I haven't been doing a good job keeping this blog up to date. I intend to remedy that by filling-in the year, starting in April.
Airship Ventures asked me to shoot some spherical panoramas inside their zeppelin so that prospective customers could see the spaciousness of the cabin. While I was there I took the opportunity to shoot this panorama of the Golden Gate just as the afternoon fog began to stream into the bay.
